We were a small wedding party of just seven people, consisting of: Cheryl's son Daniel Gurin who was our Best Man and Man of Honour, our good friends Sharon Adelman and Jack Darcus, Wedding Commissioner Karen Ell and the Captain of the good ship “Spirit of Cy Balfry” Peter Nemeth.
We rented a small ferry boat and set sail under the Vancouver bridges and out to English Bay where we said our wedding vows before the British Columbia mountains, the Pacific ocean and the spectacular City of Vancouver. We have three small cameras so each of us took turns taking many pictures.
Up until our wedding day, the days had been rainy. Typical Vancouver winter weather. However, on the day we picked, the sea was as calm as glass and the clouds were high enough to see the tops of the mountains. There was no rain. As we slowed the boat in English Bay to say our wedding vows, the sun came out for about five minutes and you can see the sun shining on Cheryl's face.
After the ceremony we sailed around the False Creek area where they were getting ready for the Vancouver Winter Olympics in February. We then motored back to dock and to the Monk McQueens restaurant where lunch was served with a selection of fine seafood, beef, Boulibase, Jambalia, wedding cake and congratulations all around.
